2025 Xiaomi SU7 ultra Review: Is Xiaomi’s First EV Worth Buying?

When the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra set a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record of 7 minutes 4.957 seconds for a mass-produced electric vehicle, the global automotive industry noticed. This high-performance EV comes from a Chinese tech company.

As Xiaomi’s most premium product in its fifteen-year history, the SU7 Ultra shows Xiaomi’s determination to enter the automotive industry. It also redefines electric performance standards with an astonishing 1548 horsepower and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 1.98 seconds.

01 The King of the Nürburgring

The 20.832-kilometer Nürburgring Nordschleife has 177 corners. It earned the nickname “Green Hell” and serves as the ultimate test for global automotive performance.

In 2025, the production version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra achieved a time of 7 minutes 4.957 seconds there. This made it the fastest mass-produced four-door electric vehicle in Nürburgring history.

More surprisingly, a prototype of the SU7 Ultra later improved this time to 6 minutes 22.091 seconds in later challenges. This secured third place overall on the Nürburgring’s official lap time leaderboard.

This achievement proves the SU7 Ultra’s extreme performance. It also showcases Chinese companies’ capabilities in high-end automotive manufacturing.

02 Disruptive Performance

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra uses the same super triple-motor system as the prototype car. This system includes two V8s motors and one V6s motor.

It delivers a staggering 1548 horsepower. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds.

Its top speed reaches 350 km/h, making it currently the fastest mass-produced four-door car on the planet.

  • Powerful Triple-Motor System: Xiaomi developed its own super electric motor, the V8s. It reaches a maximum speed of 27,200 rpm, making it one of the highest-revving and most powerful mass-produced main drive motors available.
  • Track-Grade Battery Technology: The SU7 Ultra uses the world’s first CATL Qilin II battery pack. It has a maximum discharge rate of 16C. Even at 20% battery level, the discharge power can still reach 800kW.
  • Superior Cooling Capability: Maximum heat dissipation reaches 2.7*10⁶ J per minute. This is three times the cooling capacity of ordinary electric vehicles. It allows for two consecutive full-speed Nürburgring laps without overheating.

03 Track-Inspired Design

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra’s design centers entirely on peak performance. All new design elements serve functional purposes.

The body measures 5115mm long, 1970mm wide, and 1465mm high, with a 3000mm wheelbase. It is longer, wider, and lower than the SU7 Max, giving it a more aggressive, race-ready stance.

The aerodynamic kit is a highlight. The front has an oversized splitter and air dam, combined with U-shaped air blades. This effectively increases front downforce.

The rear uses an active rear diffuser and a large fixed carbon fiber rear wing with a 1560mm span.

Comprehensive aerodynamic optimization helps the SU7 Ultra generate up to 285kg of downforce. This rivals supercar-level models.

04 Interior and Smart Technology

Inside, the SU7 Ultra’s cabin feels race-ready without sacrificing luxury.

The newly designed race-style steering wheel uses a flat-bottom and flat-top design. Xiaomi upgraded it with carbon fiber material. The grip areas feature Alcantara® suede microfiber, and it includes a yellow center marker.

The car uses Italian Alcantara® suede microfiber fabric extensively. Total coverage exceeds 5m², maximizing the sense of luxury.

The new front sport seats upgrade the active side bolsters. They offer faster response, a larger support area, and better body holding during aggressive driving.

For intelligence, the SU7 Ultra comes standard with the Xiaomi HAD end-to-end full-scenario autonomous driving system. Xiaomi’s autonomous driving division currently possesses 11.45 EFLOPS of high-performance computing power. It has also accumulated over 10 million clips of high-quality scenario data in the past year.

The dedicated Track Master App lets users record their lap videos and share them with one click. This adds to the driving enjoyment.

05 Real-World Driving Experience

In actual driving, the SU7 Ultra performs stunningly. One owner shared: “The looks are explosive! The acceleration is indeed fierce, and the power response is rapid.”

The chassis tuning earns high praise. It offers excellent support during cornering with minimal body roll, plus precise, direct steering.

The carbon-ceramic braking system provides strong braking force. It shows no significant fade during repeated braking, giving the driver ample confidence.

Switching to Comfort mode for daily driving makes city roads easy to navigate. The power does not feel overly aggressive.

However, the fastback design compromises rear seat space. This might not suit taller passengers.

But considering the SU7 Ultra’s track positioning, this trade-off is understandable.

06 Price and Market Positioning

In China, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra starts at 529,900 RMB (approximately $74,000 USD). Buyers can also choose an optional Track Professional Package (629,900 RMB, approx. $88,000 USD) or a Nürburgring Limited Edition (814,900 RMB, approx. $114,000 USD).

For consumers seeking extreme performance, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra’s price looks very attractive next to traditional supercars with similar performance.

Although Xiaomi Auto clearly states it has no near-term plans for overseas sales, the SU7 Ultra already appears in some specific markets like Cambodia through parallel import channels. For those seeking a car for sale in Cambodia, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is a highly anticipated performance beast.

07 Competitor Comparison Analysis

In the electric performance car market at a similar price, the SU7 Ultra faces strong rivals like the Tesla Model S Plaid and Porsche Taycan Turbo.

However, the SU7 Ultra holds a clear advantage in power output and track performance. Its Nürburgring record especially solidifies its status in the performance domain.

Compared to rivals, a key SU7 Ultra characteristic is its extensive use of carbon fiber. The car uses carbon fiber in 21 locations at full configuration, with a total area of 5.5m², effectively reducing weight.

Simultaneously, the SU7 Ultra offers more extreme options like the Track Professional Package and Nürburgring Limited Edition. These cater to the most hardcore track enthusiasts.

08 Range and Efficiency

Official data shows the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra can achieve a maximum CLTC range of 630 km.

In real-world use, owner feedback suggests a daily driving range around 560 km. Highway range is approximately 450 km.

Charging performance is excellent. It supports a maximum charging rate up to 5.2C. Charging from 10% to 80% takes only 11 minutes, significantly reducing range anxiety.

09 Purchase Advice and Conclusion

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is an electric performance car with very clear positioning. It suits consumers who pursue the ultimate driving experience and value track performance.

If you are a performance enthusiast with a sufficient budget, and you want an electric vehicle for both daily driving and track conquests, then the SU7 Ultra is a choice worth considering.

Especially with the optional Track Professional Package, the car’s performance approaches that of a race car. It offers a hardcore experience rare in this price segment.

However, if you prioritize family use, rear seat space, and comfort, then the SU7 Ultra might not be the best choice.

Its fastback design sacrifices some rear space, and the firmer suspension might feel too sporty for daily commuting.

Market feedback provides a fair evaluation. One owner summarized the SU7 Ultra’s overall performance well: “This car suits those who pursue personalized driving pleasure. Its looks and performance are top-notch. Minor quirks are tolerable. It would be perfect if the rear were a bit larger, but who can blame me for being obsessed with its aesthetics.”

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra marks a new breakthrough for Chinese companies in the high-end electric vehicle sector. It no longer settles for simply stacking specifications. Instead, it has proven its capabilities on the Nürburgring, the most demanding test of a vehicle’s comprehensive performance.
