What’s New in the 2025 Mazda 3?

As we look ahead to the 2026 Mazda 3, the current 2025 model already delivers significant updates for different global markets. This year’s Mazda 3 introduces distinct changes across various regions. In Mainland China, Mazda has added a Cloud Control Package. Malaysia has reintroduced the 1.5L model. Japan launched a blacked-out diesel XD Drive Edition. Meanwhile, Taiwan, China upgraded its entry-level version to the Ace Edition with more features.

These updates show how Mazda carefully tailors improvements to regional consumer preferences.

01 Mainland China Market: New Cloud Control Package

The 2025 Mazda 3 Angkesaila has officially launched in Mainland China. It keeps the same price range as before: 89,900–141,900 RMB.

As an annual update, the biggest change is the new Cloud Control Package. This remote control system lets owners adjust cabin temperature remotely, schedule engine starts, manage vehicle settings, check mileage stats, top up accounts online, set electronic fences, and check traffic violations.

This system makes the car smarter and more convenient. Owners can control many functions from a distance.

For exterior design, the new model continues Mazda’s classic “KODO: Soul of Motion” philosophy. It features a larger shield-shaped grille and sharp LED headlights. Together, they create a dynamic and elegant look.

At the rear, full-width LED taillights and a dual-exhaust layout boost the car’s visual identity.

Inside, the design still focuses on the driver. The dashboard uses soft-touch materials with refined stitching.

An 8.8-inch widescreen central display runs the upgraded Mazda Connect system. It supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

For powertrain options, the 2025 Mazda 3 continues with two SkyActiv-G engines: 1.5L and 2.0L.

The 1.5L engine produces 86 kW and 148 N·m of torque. The 2.0L engine delivers 116 kW and 202 N·m.

Both engines work with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. They also include the G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC PLUS) system, which improves handling stability.

02 Taiwan, China Market: Entry-Level Becomes Ace Edition

In mid-February 2025, Mazda Taiwan, China refreshed the Mazda3 lineup. The main update replaces the old entry-level Carbon Edition with the new Ace Edition, which adds several features.

Both the four-door and five-door 20S Ace Edition versions now cost 888,000 New Taiwan Dollars.

The upgraded Ace Edition includes features that were previously only on mid-tier Premium models. These include adaptive front-lighting system (AFS) headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED twin-circle taillights, and a Smart Keyless Entry System. All these features are now standard across the series.

Mazda also upgraded the interior from fabric to leather seats. The previous glossy black alloy wheels now come in dark gray. The exterior mirrors now match the body color.

Besides the entry-level model, other variants in the Mazda3 lineup keep their names and prices. This ensures product line stability.

03 Malaysia Market: 1.5L Model Returns with More Features, Lower Price

The Malaysian market sees a big change in 2025. The Mazda 3’s 1.5L model returns after a two-year discontinuation. It should officially launch in September.

Notably, the new 1.5L model costs RM 118,900. That’s RM 24,100 less than the previous generation’s price of RM 143,000. This achieves a “more features for less” approach.

For equipment, the new 2025 Mazda 3 1.5L gains significant upgrades. It now has 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 10.25-inch central screen, and automatic climate control.

By contrast, the previous 1.5L model had only 16-inch wheels, fabric seats, an 8.8-inch screen, and manual air conditioning.

Safety also improves greatly. The new entry-level version now includes a full ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) suite.

The complete i-Activsense ADAS functions include: Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), High-Beam Control (HBC), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA).

It’s worth noting that the RM 155,000 2.0L High Sedan does not include the ADAS system. This makes the 1.5L version even better value.

04 Japan Market: Blacked-Out Edition and System Improvements

The 2025 Mazda 3 in Japan adds a “XD Drive Edition” blacked-out version for diesel models. It also optimizes the infotainment system.

The XD Drive Edition uses a unified black-themed exterior. Inside, it upgrades to leather seats, highlighting a sporty and premium feel.

Specifically, the hatchback offers black or red leather seats. The sedan only comes in black. The door trim uses synthetic leather, while the wheels and mirrors get black coating.

Meanwhile, Mazda optimized the infotainment system in the Mazda 3 Angkesaila and CX-30. Now, except for the base trim, all models support direct touch operation for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This improves usability of the 10.25-inch screen.

Additionally, Mazda simplified model choices in Japan. It discontinued older versions like the XD Edition and 20S Black Selection. This likely helps streamline consumer decisions.

05 Other Market Updates

Beyond these specific regional changes, the 2025 Mazda 3 also rolls out general updates in some overseas markets.

For example, certain regions offer both hatchback and sedan body styles. This meets different consumer aesthetic and practical needs.

For feature adjustments, the 2025 Mazda 3 S Select Sport and higher trims in some markets now include Alexa integration. Drivers can use voice commands to control the audio, climate control, and even smart home devices.

Additionally, Mazda provides online navigation services with over-the-air (OTA) update support. This gives drivers a more convenient and intelligent experience.

For powertrain options, overseas markets offer two strong engines.

The naturally aspirated SkyActiv-G 2.5L four-cylinder produces 191 horsepower and 252 N·m of torque. It pairs with a six-speed automatic or manual transmission.

The SkyActiv-G 2.5L turbocharged engine uses an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. It delivers 250 horsepower and 433 N·m of torque.

Mazda’s update strategy for different regions reflects local market demands. Mainland China focuses on smart connectivity. Taiwan, China boosts entry-level value. Malaysia emphasizes practicality and affordability. Japan prioritizes personalization and system optimization. This region-specific approach helps the Mazda 3 stay competitive globally.
